When you start looking for cruelty-free products it can be a bit of a minefield.

Companies will try to avoid admitting they test on animals using all kinds of jargon. Savvy consumers need to know all the questions that need to be asked in order to ascertain whether a product genuinely is cruelty-free or not.

The infographic below shares the information you need, as well as what you should be asking companies if you speak to them directly. As ever, if you’re not sure, it’s safer to assume they are testing than not.

***Please note the term ‘cruelty-free’ does not automatically mean vegan. Obviously, as a vegan myself, if a product isn’t tested on animals but does contain milk derivatives, I wouldn’t consider it to be cruelty-free. However, I am using the industry standard language in this post.***
